New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially hand over five development projects that cost about Rs 3,350 crore in Ladakh on 15 October 2026. These projects are meant to make travel easier, build power systems, keep the area's history safe, and solve water problems in the area.
PM Modi will start the projects using a video conference at about 12:30 PM and speak to the people who are there.
One of the projects is a new passenger terminal at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh. It costs Rs 640 crore. The terminal covers 23,800 metres and is designed to serve 35 lakh passengers each year. It also uses energy to save power.
The Prime Minister will also officially open the 298-km Nimmu-Padum-Darcha Road, built by the Border Roads Organisation. This road connects Leh to Darcha in Himachal Pradesh through the Zanskar Valley. It provides another way to reach Ladakh. It should help the military move things more easily and let local people travel more easily.
Other projects include a 9 MW Hanu Small Hydroelectric Project and a 66 kV Dah-Hanu-Khaltsi transmission line. These will make the power system in the area much stronger.
Modi will also open India’s Petroglyph Conservation Park at Sindhu Ghat in Leh. The park is for keeping rock carvings safe.
Also, 40 water areas made in 40 villages under Project Him Sarovar will be opened. The project is meant to provide water for farming and help farmers in Ladakh. The area often has no water at certain times of the year.
These projects cover needs for the area like moving around, having power to keep old things safe, and getting enough water.
