New Delhi: The Delhi Government has launched infrastructure projects worth Rs 170 crore across nine industrial areas to improve road connectivity and drainage facilities.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the projects at Rajasthani Udyog Nagar on Tuesday. The planned works include the construction and improvement of nearly 15 km of roads and the development of around 34 km of stormwater drainage networks.
Gupta said industrial development remains a priority for the government and assured that funds would not be a constraint in upgrading infrastructure. She also said that no industrial area in the capital would be left out of the development programme.
The projects are aimed at improving connectivity, reducing waterlogging and addressing long-pending infrastructure problems faced by industrial units.
Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said several industrial areas had been dealing with poor roads and inadequate civic facilities due to a lack of infrastructure development over the past 25 years.
According to the Industries Department, the projects cover Rajasthani Udyog Nagar, GTK Udyog Nagar, Naraina Industrial Area, Lawrence Road, Najafgarh (Rama Road), DLF Moti Nagar, Nangloi Jat and S-Block, and Okhla Phase II, among other locations.
Key Areas
The infrastructure upgrade is expected to improve basic facilities in these industrial areas and provide better working conditions for businesses operating in the capital. Improved roads and drainage systems could also help address some of the long-standing issues affecting industrial activity in these areas.
