New Delhi: The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) have launched ‘PSUs for PLANET’, an initiative focused on supporting the energy transition of public sector enterprises (PSEs).
The launch follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two organisations. As part of the initiative, SCOPE and IISD also organised a workshop on ‘Climate-Related Disclosures for PSEs’.
The workshop was addressed by Atul Sobti, Director General of SCOPE, and Christopher Beaton, Director of the Energy Program at IISD. Discussions centred on climate-related disclosures and their relevance for public sector enterprises as they work towards the energy transition.
The initiative comes under the Practitioners’ Learning and Action Network on Energy Transition (PLANET) for PSUs. It is designed to bring together public sector enterprises, industry practitioners, experts and other stakeholders to discuss emerging issues and challenges related to the transition.
According to the organisations, the platform will focus on knowledge-sharing, collaborative discussions and the development of practical solutions to help public sector enterprises address energy transition challenges.
The initiative is expected to provide a common platform for PSEs to exchange experiences and understand the role of climate-related disclosures in their transition plans. It also aims to encourage greater collaboration between enterprises and experts working on energy and sustainability issues.
