New Delhi: NTPC Limited has committed Rs 24.20 crore to archery development through a four-year renewal of its partnership with the Archery Association of India (AAI). The NTPC partnership will support opportunities and training for emerging athletes.
The partnership, renewed in September 2025, builds on NTPC’s Rs 16.18 crore commitment in November 2018, under its corporate social responsibility programme.
Support covers national championships for sub-junior, junior and senior archers, alongside National Ranking Archery Tournaments, helping athletes gain experience and progress towards international competition.
Around 53 national tournaments and championships have been organised with NTPC’s assistance, recording approximately 24,096 participant entries. The company has also provided kits and uniforms for Indian archers, covering 1,145 athlete participations across 88 international events.
To help more young people get access to training, NTPC Bongaigaon signed a deal with the Mizoram State Sports Council in October 2025. The goal is to set up an archery academy at Lengpui in Mamit district.
The project carries a commitment of Rs 5.28 crore over three years. The archery academy will give coaching, modern gear and a clear training plan. This will help young archers get ready for district, state and national competitions.
The impact of NTPC’s support is also reflected in athletes such as Kumkum Anil Mohod of Amravati, Maharashtra, who progressed from humble beginnings to the international stage. According to the press release, her achievements highlight the opportunities created through sustained support for archery.
NTPC’s wider archery programme offers support for women and para archers, scholarships, equipment, sports science and competitive exposure. These initiatives aim to create a pathway from grassroots participation to higher-level competition while bringing training opportunities closer to young athletes, particularly in the Northeast.
