New Delhi: Two Memorandums of Settlement (MoS) were signed between the management of UltraTech’s Bathinda unit and workers’ unions on 14 October 2026, following conciliation efforts by the Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central), Jalandhar.
The settlements were concluded with the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), with support from the Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Rs 3.36 Crore in Benefits Over Five Years
The agreements are expected to extend financial benefits amounting to approximately Rs 3.36 crore to 217 workers over the next five years.
A key provision allows the agreed benefits to be extended retrospectively from the second quarter of the year, subject to the terms and conditions of the respective settlements.
Conciliation to Support Industrial Relations
The settlements were reached through dialogue and cooperation between the company’s management and workers’ representatives, with the active involvement of the Labour Department’s conciliation machinery in Jalandhar.
The resolution highlights the role of conciliation in helping employers and workers reach mutually acceptable agreements through collective bargaining.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment said the effort reflects its commitment to protecting workers’ interests, promoting fair labour practices and resolving industrial disputes amicably. Such initiatives also aim to strengthen harmonious industrial relations through constructive dialogue.
