New Delhi: Shri Jatin Kumar Nayak has assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), at the company's registered office in New Delhi.
His appointment follows the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), conveyed through an MNRE order dated October 29, 2026.
Shri Nayak brings with him over three decades of rich professional experience spanning the power, mining and metals sectors. Before taking over as CMD of IREDA, he served as Executive Director (Finance) at REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power. He also held the position of Chief Financial Officer at the erstwhile REC Transmission Projects Company Limited, a subsidiary of REC.
During his career, Shri Nayak has served in several prominent public sector organisations, including NHPC Limited, Hindustan Copper Limited, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited.
An accomplished finance professional, he holds a Master's degree in Commerce from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India (ICMAI) and a qualified Company Secretary.
His professional expertise encompasses corporate finance, strategic treasury management, domestic and international resource mobilisation, taxation, legal affairs, project appraisal and monitoring, lending operations, loan recovery and stressed asset management. His experience in financial management and the power sector brings valuable cross-sector perspectives to IREDA's leadership.
At a time when financing and resource mobilisation are crucial to accelerating India's renewable energy ambitions, his extensive experience is expected to strengthen IREDA's role in financing and promoting the country's clean energy transition.
IREDA plays a significant role in providing financial support to renewable energy projects and advancing India's sustainable energy development objectives.
