New Delhi: The Director (Marketing), GAIL (India) Limited, Sanjay Kumar, has been appointed as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Petronet LNG Limited.
The vacancy is effective from 13 May 2027, as recommended by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Kumar’s selection was finalized after a meeting of the board on 02 October 2026.
The GAIL Director will succeed the current CEO of the organization, Akshay Kumar Singh.
Kumar joined GAIL in 1988 and has spent over three decades working across various domains, including business development, LNG sourcing, and project management. Notably, in 2011, he was tasked with establishing GAIL's overseas trading subsidiary, GAIL Global (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) is India’s largest Liquefied Natural Gas importer and a huge contributor to the nation’s energy sector. The company was incorporated as a unique Joint Venture Company and is promoted by four Maharatna PSUs: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and GAIL (India) Limited.
