NEW DELHI : The Ministry of Rural Development and the Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation on Thursday asked industry to participate in the Captive Employment component of DDU-GKY 2.0, which has a national target of 1.83 lakh candidates. The Captive Employer CXO Meet was held at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur.
The event brought together more than 50 employers, industry associations, Sector Skill Councils, chief executives of state rural livelihood and skill development missions, and central and state government officials. Employers were asked to respond to expressions of interest from state implementing agencies and take part by training and absorbing rural youth in their own operations.
The programme started with an address by Rishav Mandal, Managing Director of RSLDC. This was followed by addresses from Pawan Kumar, Director of the Rural Skills Division and Jayasree M.G., Joint Secretary (Rural Skills) at the Ministry of Rural Development.
The ministry said that 18.49 lakh youth have been trained under DDU-GKY far. Of these 12.44 lakh have been placed in jobs. The scheme has a target that least 70% of the trained candidates must get placement or become eligible for self-employment. This goal helps ensure that the training actually leads to opportunities, for young people.
Twenty per cent of DDU-GKY 2.0 targets have been earmarked for captive employers. Funding to project implementing agencies, including captive employers will be released in four instalments in a 30:20:20:30 ratio. The final instalment depends on placement and verification requirements, including a six-month employment period.
The meeting also included a session on manpower needs, implementation challenges and areas for collaboration, between industry and state agencies.
