Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has registered encouraging operational and financial improvements in Q2 FY 2026–27, reflecting the impact of focused leadership and a comprehensive turnaround strategy spearheaded by CMD Shri Manoj Aggarwal.
With emphasis on field-level monitoring, accountability and efficient resource utilisation, CMD Manoj Aggarwal has driven a series of targeted interventions across the company's operations.
A key focus has been stringent action against illegal coal mining, pilferage and unauthorised transportation, supported by closer coordination with district administrations, police and security agencies. Improved coal evacuation, monitoring of critical sidings and washeries, enforcement against vehicle overloading and strict adherence to contractual obligations have strengthened transportation discipline. Consequently, coal offtake increased by 9.62% year-on-year to 8.89 MT in Q2 FY27.
Direct field inspections, regular reviews of Area-wise performance, and time-bound corrective action plans have enhanced operational accountability. The redeployment of underutilised departmental machinery and manpower, alongside intensive monitoring of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) contracts, has further strengthened resource productivity and contractor accountability.
BCCL has also intensified coal quality monitoring, internal sampling and consumer grievance redressal. Improved coordination with State agencies has helped address operational bottlenecks, land-related issues and disruptions affecting mining and transportation.
The turnaround is equally visible in financial performance. Raw coal stock declined from 9.17 MT in March 2026 to 6.34 MT in September 2026, while trade receivables reduced by ₹757.80 crore to ₹2,105.38 crore.
Washery operations posted a remarkable improvement, turning a loss of ₹ 2.12 crore in the corresponding quarter last year into a profit of ₹ 235.51 crore in Q2 FY27. Coal feed to washeries also increased from 12.15 lakh tonnes to 15.51 lakh tonnes. New Bhojudih Washery contributed 69,000 tonnes of washed coal during H1 FY27. The revision of notified coal prices further supported improved revenue realisation.
These achievements reflect CMD Manoj Aggarwal's result-oriented approach, close operational oversight and sustained efforts to strengthen efficiency, transparency, financial discipline and long-term sustainability at BCCL.
